In addition to the new map and the current Scorched Earth event, Hunt: Showdown 1896 has also received a general “makeover”, which brings some new features and changes.
We have summarized the most important changes of the major update below:
New wild target – Hellborn
The Hellborn is a new special boss, a so-called wild target in Hunt: Showdown 1896.
It resembles a large Immolator, uses a fire nova and fireballs against you and tries to burn you away quickly.
Our Hellborn boss guide explains in detail how to find and fight the new boss!
Trait Changes
All traits are now divided into three categories:
- Normal Traits: You simply buy these skills for upgrade points in the main menu
- Burn Traits: After using them, these skills burn up and must be bought or found again. These skills are marked in red and their skull in the game glows red.
- Scarce Traits: These abilities can only be found in the game itself (Random Spawns, Boss Drops, Drop from Fleshheads). These skills are highlighted in light blue and their skull has a blue glow in-game.
In addition, some abilities have undergone fundamental changes to help with balancing:
- Necromancer: can now only be used once (whether solo or team player) and is now a burn trait (burns after use).
- Shadow Leap: The ability is now firmly back in the game. (Rare trait)
- Witness: The ability is now back in the game as a normal trait.
Burning hunters
If you set fire to a hunter lying on the ground, it will burn more than twice as fast as before.
In line with this, choking clouds from any source will only last about 1 minute.
This should put an end to endless fights and force you to act in a stand-off.
Bullet Drop
So far, with a few exceptions, all bullets in Hunt: Showdown have simply flown straight. Although the damage of some ammunition decreased over distance, that was about it.
With the major update to Hunt: Showdown 1896, the “Bullet Drop” was introduced as a new mechanic. With this, the trajectory of the bullet drops after a certain distance, so that you now have to use existing and/or special high-velocity ammunition to hit at greater distances.
The bullet drop depends on the length of the gun’s barrel and, above all, the type of ammunition:
- Compact ammunition: low drop, flat drop curve
- Medium ammunition: medium drop, balanced drop curve
- Long ammunition: Heavy drop, strong drop curve
- Nitro Express: Very strong drop, very strong drop curve
- Bolts, arrows and throwing items: Unchanged
Weapon changes
- A headshot now always deals 150 damage, regardless of ammo type and distance.
- The damage of the Uppercut and Haymaker has been reduced to 122/123.
- The sights on all silenced weapons have been adjusted and improved.
Name changes for some weapons
When equipping your weapon, you will notice some new names, but these are the names of weapons that already exist in the game:
- All Winfield 1873C variants have been renamed to “Frontier”.
- All Winfield M1873 variants have been renamed “Ranger 73”.
- All Winfield Bayonett variants have been renamed to “Infantry 73L”.
- All shortened weapons now have the suffix “Shorty”.
- The Conversion Pistol and the Uppercut have been separated, and the suffix “Caldwell” has been dropped.
- The Uppermat now bears the title “Haymaker”.
- All weapons without a stock that have a sight now have the title “Bullseye”.
