Along with the biggest update the game has ever seen, the new event in Hunt: Showdown 1896 is also starting under the name Scorched Earth.
In our event guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it!
Start & end time
- Start: August 15th, 2024
- Duration: 52 days
- End: October 6th, 2024
New map: Mammon’s Gulch
The new map Mammon Gorge is the only one available for the first 30 days of the event. It takes players from the swamps more to the north, where you can see more signs of civilization and industrialization.
The map is much more vertical than the previous ones and is set in a more mountainous region with many signs of mining and deforestation.
Each location on the map should offer significantly more access points and opportunities than was the case on the previous maps.
There will also be alternative ways to get from one point to another, such as walking over a mountain or running underneath it under the protection of the mine.

As in previous events, there are once again three pacts that you can join, each with their own skills.
At each supply point you will find three shrines where you can join one of the pacts.
There is a new pact ability and two abilities with additional effects per pact:
The Wilderness Pact
The Wilderness Pact aims to fight and eradicate the corruption of the land.
The Pact’s abilities focus on the mobility and movement of your hunter.
Pact ability:
- Surefoot: You can sprint with prepared throw items or when using first aid kits.
- Extra for solo players: Your footsteps are quieter while crouching.
Additional effect for existing skills:
- Beastface: You no longer startle animals or break branches when running over them.
- Frontiersman: You gain an extra Covenant token for the first 30 event points in each round.
The Lawful Pact
The Lawful Pact attempts to restore stability to the Mammon Gorge.
The abilities of the Pact help you in PvP combat.
Pact ability:
- Peacekeeper: Gain an empty health bar when you loot a dead Hunter.
Additional effect for existing abilities:
- Packmule: You find extra ammunition when looting hunters.
- Vigilant: The range of the marker in Shadow Vision is doubled.
The Demented Pact
The Demented Pact is addicted to the madness of corruption and worships its creatures.
The Pact helps you in melee and PvE combat.
Pact ability:
- Berserker: Increased melee damage
Additional effect for existing abilities:
- Adrenaline: 25% speed boost for 20 seconds if you have a critical health level.
- Ghoul: When you deal damage to a boss or wild target you restore health.

Sealed cache
The sealed cache can be found on the map again this time and is marked by an orange triangle in a circle on the map.
In addition to ammunition, you will also find various sealed world items here, including a master hint that immediately shows you the position of a boss or a bounty token that has to be extracted just like a normal bounty.
You can find the following world items at the sealed hideout:
- Bounty Token – Cost: 2 Pact Tokens
- Gives you an additional bounty token, exclusive to the first players to break the seal.
- Master Hint – Cost: 1 Pact Token
- As the name suggests, destroying the seal reveals all clues and thus the position of all bosses on the map immediately. This does not apply to Rottjaw and Hellborn. Exclusive to the first players to break the seal.
- Healing effect – Cost: 1 Pact token
- Restores all life bars and life energy
Pact seals in the game world
