The current event Post Malone’s Murder Circus brings a completely new enemy to the world of Hunt: Showdown 1896 – Ursa Mortis.
In this article, we’ll show you where to find the two-headed monster bear, what abilities it has and how best to fight it.
What is Ursa Mortis?
Story-wise, Ursa Mortis is the result of a long-imprisoned bear that has been corrupted and mutated by the effect of the stone – and now roams the orphaned circus grounds.
From a gameplay point of view, Ursa Mortis is neither a normal monster nor any kind of real boss in the game.
It is a special, unique enemy – a kind of “mini-boss” – from which you cannot receive a bounty token.
Where can you find Ursa Mortis?
You can find the bear Ursa Mortis in the circus grounds of Post Malone’s Murder Circus. He patrols around within the circus area itself.
However, there is only one bear per game round. So you’ll have to hurry to be the first team at the circus.
The circus area is marked by the yellow circus tent symbol on the map and is available in every game round during the event runtime.
What abilities does Ursa Mortis have?
The bear has four abilities that you need to watch out for:
- Blood Smell: If Ursa Mortis notices a bleeding player in the area, it will immediately attack and chase you, in much the same way a Meathead will chase you if you are poisoned.
- Slash: The bear will give you a powerful slash that deals a lot of damage, normal melee attack
- Charge: The animal will get down on all fours and take a running start before focusing on a player and charging towards them. The attack deals high damage and knocks the player to the ground.
- Roar: Ursa Mortis stands on its hind legs and begins to roar. This roar causes continuous damage if you are not far enough away. This is indicated by a wafting “pressure wave effect”.
What is the best way to fight Ursa Mortis?
When fighting Ursa Mortis, there are actually only a few things to keep in mind. Keep your distance from the monster and play it so that one team member attracts attention and the rest can fire at it.
In addition to normal weapons, throwing knives and axes are also useful.
Dodge the Charge and when the bear stands up and roars, you have a clear shot.
Tip: There are thorny snares all around the circus grounds, which will cause you to bleed if you step on them. So be careful where you step – or the bear will come running straight at you.
The fight shouldn’t take long and, if you’re lucky, you’ll be rewarded with a trait token, similar to the meat head – as well as the 15 safe event points.
