Update 2.2 also marks the start of the latest event in Hunt: Showdown 1896, this time entitled Post Malone’s Murder Circus.
We have compiled all the information about the event below and will update this article as soon as new information is available!
Start, end and duration of Post Malone’s Murder Circus
The event starts on December 12, 2024 and runs until February 10, 2025, so you have about two months to play the new event and test the content.
- Start: Thursday, 12.12.2024
- End: Monday, 10.02.2025
- Duration: 63 days
The Circus Grounds
All in-game locations – Stillwater Bayou, Lawson Delta and Mammon’s Gulch – will have a circus site in each round for the duration of the event.
The Circus Grounds will be the location for completely new features as well as all content previously found in the Sealed Cache.
In addition to various tents and stalls where you can use your Pact Tokens for weapons, restoration effects and replenishing consumable items, you will also find the new fortune-telling machine and the new monster Ursa Mortis on the grounds.
The circus will also be the location for the new weapon “Shredder”.
Fortune-telling machine
The fortune-telling machine is a new feature that will bring some variety to the game with Post Malone’s Murder Circus.
You can use your pact tokens at the machine and then receive random valuable rewards that you can use for yourself.
Rewards known so far include random abilities, effects from the sealed supply and weapons.
You can find the fortune-telling machine on the circus grounds, but also randomly at supply points on the map.
New monster: Ursa Mortis
The latest monster in the Hunt Showdown compendium is “Ursa Mortis”, a huge, two-headed bear. The bear patrols the circus grounds and defends them against intruders.
It is sensitive to bleeding hunters and will preferentially attack them, much like the Meathead, which pursues poisoned targets.
Like the Meathead, Ursa Mortis may well drop an ability when defeated.
It is not yet known whether there is only one bear per game round or whether you may even face several bears.
New monster variant: Circus Grunts
During the event run of Post Malone’s Murder Circus, various grunts dressed in clown costumes can also be found in the game world to match the circus.
However, these can be found all over the map, not just on the circus grounds.
They are dressed in gruesome costumes and reward you with extra event points when you eliminate them.
Factions in Post Malone’s Murder Circus
There are three new factions in the latest event, this time under the name “Troupes”.
You can join one of the factions at supply points and on the circus grounds. As soon as you have joined, you will be credited with the faction’s first trait.
If you then join the faction again and pay one to pact tokens, you will also unlock the second trait.

Pledge Marks and Event Points in Post Malone’s Murder Circus
There are two currencies available to you during the event, Pledge Marks and Event Points. While Pledge Marks are available to you for interactions in the game itself (prescribing factions, triggering a restoration effect, currency for the fortune teller machine), Event Points help you in two ways.
Firstly, event points are credited to your event progress and are used to level up your Battle Pass. Secondly, you will be credited with additional Pledge Marks when you reach certain thresholds.
How to earn Pledge Marks
One change to Pact Tokens is that you can now hold up to 9 Pact Tokens at a time.
You can earn Pact Tokens through the following actions:
- Every 25 Event Points earned – 1 Covenant Token
- Banishing a target in Bounty Clash mode – 2 Pact Tokens
- Become a Soul Survivor – 3 Pact Tokens
In addition, you can steal an enemy hunter’s pact tokens when you loot them.
The opponent will then lose these, even if they are picked up again.
How to earn Event points
You can earn event points by performing the following actions:
- Extract with a bounty – 30 event points
- Become a Soul Survivor – 30 event points
- Kill bosses and wild targets – 15 event points
- Kill Ursa Mortis – 15 Event Points
- Become the Wellspring – 15 event points
- First time looting a hunter – 8 event points
- Interact with rifts / clues – 6 event points
- Kill a Meathead – 5 Event Points
- Kill Circus grunt – 3 event points
- Destroy balloons – 3 event points
- Kill Hives or Hellhounds – 1 event point
- Kill Armored or Immolators – 1 event point
Changes to Darksight
Previously, it was not possible for bounty wearers to avoid wasting the valuable seconds of the boost when using Darksight.
With Update 2.2, you can now switch on the use of the boost with a special key (default: mouse button 2 – right-click).
If you would like to continue playing with undivided Darksight as before, you will find a legacy option in the settings from the update onwards.
New weapons & weapon variants in Post Malone’s Murder Circus
New exclusive weapon: Shredder
The “Shredder” is a saw blade launcher that can also fire explosive ammunition. This weapon can only be obtained in the game itself and only once per round and must be unlocked using pact tokens in the circus tent.
The saw blades can bounce off hard surfaces and, with a little skill, can be shot around corners or other floors.
Unlike other event weapons, the Shredder will only be available for the duration of Post Malone’s Murder Circus and will disappear afterwards.
New weapon: Cho Ko Nu
Cho Ko Nu is a repeating crossbow that can fire projectiles at medium range quite quickly.
However, the bolt magazine limits its visibility and range.
New weapon variants, ammunition & equipment
The following weapon variants, ammunition types and equipment will also be unlockable in Post Malone’s Murder Circus:
- Krag Silencer
- Sparks Pistol Silencer
- 1865 Carbine Aperture
- Maynard Sniper Silencer
- Recovery Shot: Restores a lost health bar
- Subsonic ammunition: Smaller, weighted bullets that fly slower but are significantly quieter.
New ability: Fast Fingers
The latest ability “Fast Fingers” will ensure that even single-shot weapons can be fired much faster.
To do this, your character puts the ammunition between their fingers and has it ready to hand more quickly for reloading.
New legendary hunter skins
During Post Malone’s Murder Circus you can unlock a whole range of new hunters in the game:
- Post Malone, the Ringmaster
- Chum, the Scar Clown
- Winky, the psycho clown
