The November update for Rust is here and, in addition to two new weapons, also brings a series of new gestures as part of a DLC package and some Quality of Life improvements.
New weapon – T1 Handmade SMG
The T1 Handmade SMG fills a gap in Rust’s weapon lineup and can be unlocked further down in the T1 technology tree
What the weapon lacks in accuracy and damage, it makes up for in rate of fire and magazine size
New weapon – SKS
The second new weapon in the arsenal is the SKS. It is the link between the SAR and the M39.
The weapon can be unlocked in the T3 technology tree.
The rifle is characterized by decent damage paired with good accuracy and a solid range.
Improved wolf AI
The AI of the wolves in Rust has been revised and improved and this revision is soon to be implemented for all other AI opponents.
The developers did not want to reveal all the new features of the wolf AI in detail, but based on the explanations of the previous problems and a short clip on the new behavior, the following can be read and concluded:
- Wolves now announce themselves by howling
- They circle the player before attacking or after dodging
- They react sensitively to fire, for example to a torch, and evade
- After an attack that hits them, they retreat and then try again
Gesture DLC
A new DLC pack for Rust brings eight new gestures to the game that you can use to communicate:
- Rock Paper Scissors (Mini-game)
- Loser / L Hand
- Knuckle Crack
- No-No / Wagging Finger
- Cut Throat
- Shush
- Watching You
- Finger Gun
The rock-paper-scissors gesture is special because you can play against other players and decide who has to farm wood next or watch out for the base.
If you buy the DLC in the Item Store, you have to assign the gestures to a slot in the new gesture wheel customization in order to use them in the game.
Gesture wheel customizations
Under Options – Gestures there are now some new settings in which you can assign all the gestures available in the game to a slot on the gesture wheel.
There is also a second wheel on which you can place the new gestures from the gesture DLC, for example.
In the game itself, you can switch between the wheels by pressing E and Q.
Adjustments for radioactive water
According to the developers, the radioactive water that was added to the game in the October update did not have the desired effect and is not effective enough.
It was therefore adjusted in the November update:
- The radiation effect from the sprinkler system has been increased by 70%
- The radiation effect from being doused with water has been increased by 40%
With these changes, the radioactive water now also has a noticeable effect against fully equipped enemies.
