The September update for Rust brings some new content and Quality of Life (QoL) improvements to the game. We’ll tell you what’s inside!
New weapons & items
Digital clock
New in the game is a digital clock that shows you the current time in the game itself. This allows you to better coordinate your actions in the game.
You can also use the alarm function for automations!
The clock is available with the Tier 2 workbench and costs 100 Metal Fragments.
Customizable wallpapers
You can now decorate the interiors of your bases with wallpaper. By default there are 4 uniform color wallpapers in the game, in the store there is a starter pack with different patterns.
The blueprint is available immediately and with 10 fabric you can produce 2 wallpapers.
GCO weapon attachment
The GCO weapon attachment is an experimental attachment that increases the damage and bullet speed of the weapon.
However, the rate of fire is reduced and the recoil is increased.
The attachment is compatible with the following weapons: Thompson, SAR, SAP, M92, M39 & Custom SMG
Wellipets boots
The famous frog boots from Wellipets are coming to the game as part of a collaboration. All players who played during Early Access between 2013 and 2018 will receive them as a gift in the game.
The collaboration also extends to the real world, as you can now pre-order the boots from Wellipets.
QoL & accessibility improvements
Colorblind accessibility
A relief for all colorblind players, because you can now color many markers in the game with a color that is more visible to you. This includes the markings for the mining mini-game for trees and ores, the color of the hunger and thirst display and the names of players.
In addition, the contrasts of some bars and icons have been adjusted so that they stand out better.
More comprehensible error messages
Previously, quite cryptic error messages were often displayed in the chat, for example when something could not be placed. Now these messages are displayed in the middle of the screen above your shortcut keys and also tell you exactly what the error is.
For example, you will be informed that you lack the permissions to build, which entity is blocking you or where you are building something else.
The “culprit” is also highlighted in flashing red.
Localization
The September update also saw further work on the localization of the game. Almost all windows in the game, which were previously only available in English, are now also available in many left-handed fonts.
This work will be continued in the coming months.
World Update Playtest
In preparation for the October update, you can now also test a first version of it on the staging branch of Rust and give feedback to the developers.
In terms of content, you can expect fundamentally revised world elements such as new cliffs, rivers, diving points and completely new content such as canyons, lakes and desert oases.
Also included will be well-known monuments and logs that look exactly the same as in the Legacy version.
The large-caliber revolver, a new protective suit skin and more have also been announced.
